The Medlite IV Q-Switched, ND:YAG
Laser
Continuum Biomedical is proud to
announce a new generation Medlite Q-Switched, Frequency
Doubled, Nd:YAG Laser...
Breakthrough technological advances,
developed by the new ConBio medical engineering
team, have produced a Q-Switched ND:YAG with greater
than twice the power of the current Medlite model.
Along with this significant power
increase, are the added features of both improved
beam quality and larger spotsizes. These new features
combine to provide the most advanced and highest
power Q-Switched ND:YAG laser available in the medical
marketplace today.
A unique feature of the Medlite
is its clearance for multiple diverse applications.
Originally introduced as a tattoo removal laser,
ConBio has diligently poured research funding into
defining new applications, constantly increasing
the Medlite's practicality for the office environment.
Introduced in late 1991, over 300
units have been sold worldwide. The Medlite's reliability
combined with it's multiple applications have earned
it the renowned label of a real "workhorse". Leading
researchers have gone so far as to say. "If you
can only afford one laser in your practice, the
Q-Switched, ND:YAG is the laser of choice".
Twice as powerful, the new Medlite
IV offers expanded treatment applications. The Medlite
IV includes Multilite? accessory handpieces, providing
two additional wavelengths at 585 & 650 nm --
four wavelengths from one laser.
Applications
* Hair Removal
* Tattoo Ink - Black, Red &
Green
* Dermal & Epidermal Pigmented
Lesions
* Vascular Lesions
Featuring
* Increased Power
* Larger Spotsizes
* Uniform Beam
Dark & Red Tattoo Ink Removal
Professional dark ink tattoos require
an average of 4 - 8 treatments with the 1064 nm
wavelength to remove deep ink. "Homemade" tattoos
usually require only 2 - 4 treatments. Red ink,
readily absorbed by the 532 nm wavelength, typically
requires only one or two treatments. Treatments
are spaced 6 - 8 weeks apart.
Epidermal Pigmented Lesion Treatment
Most lesions are removed in only one
treatment, with a healing time of 2 - 4 weeks. The
risk of hypopigmentation is extremely low. Transient
hyperpigmentation is evident in a small percentage
of patients, usually showing prior susceptibility,
but typically resolving in less than 2-3 months.
Dermal Pigmented Lesion Treatment
Thousands of dermal melanocytosis
cases, including Nevus of Ota and Mongolian Spot,
have been treated at 1064 nm with extreme success.
Vascular Lesion Treatment
The 532 nm wavelength treats telangiectacia
through to portwine stain. Purpura resolves quickly,
typically in less than one week.
FEATURES OF THE MEDLITE? IV LASER
Multilite Dye Laser Handpiece
The increased power of the Medlite
IV opens the door to the use of this exciting new
product... The Multilite Dye Laser Handpiece.
A dye impregnated polymer rod converts
the 532 nm Medlite IV wavelength to either 585 nm
or 650 nm. These new wavelengths are expected to
increase treatment applications in the areas of
tattoo ink removal (green and light blue inks),
vascular lesions and pigmented lesions. With the
addition if these completely solid state handpieces,
the Medlite IV effectively includes four wavelengths
in one laser.
Increased Power
The Medlite IV power has increased
from 450 millijoules to an astounding high of greater
than 1000 millijoules (1.0 Joule) at 1064 nm (infrared).
The green wavelength at 532 nm has increased from
under 200 mJ to over 400 mJ.
Larger Spotsizes
These high powers enable the Medlite
IV to utilize new larger spotsizes. The 1064 nm
wavelength will have 3, 4, 6, and 8mm spotsizes
and 532 nm will have 2, 3, 4, and 6mm. Of course,
larger spotsizes can reduce treatment times by increasing
the area covered per pass. Additionally, research
has shown larger spotsizes to cause less skin debris
during treatment. New treatment endpoints, with
the use of larger spotsizes, call for treating to
a crisp whitening and avoiding pinpoint bleeding.
Uniform Beam
New optical configurations have
increased the beam uniformity for optimal energy
density distribution throughout the entire spotsize.
Electrical Specifications
Incredibly, this major jump in
laser energy is available with no increase to electrical
input specifications. The Medlite IV still only
requires 110V and 12 Amp electrical service, standard
in any office.
